Kurdistan TV (Kurdish: کوردستان تیڤی Kurdistan TV) is a Kurdish television channel based in the Kurdistan autonomous region of Iraq.
The first broadcast started in 1999 and Kurdistan TV became the first Kurdish broadcaster in northern Iraq. The owner of the station is Masoud Barzani’s Kurdistan Democratic Party. Turkish journalist İlnur Çevik of Turkish Daily News is said to have helped found the newspaper with the consent of the Turkish government, which wanted to break Medya-TV’s PKK propaganda.
According to the publisher, it has offices in most cities in the autonomous region of Kurdistan, as well as correspondent offices in Iran, Turkey and some European countries. The General Director of Kurdistan TV is Karwan Akrayi. Khalil Sinjari is the European Director of Kurdistan TV and the Managing Director of KTV-Kurdistan TV GmbH in Bedburg-Hau. According to the publisher, it has more than 250 full-time employees in total.
